See a GP by video or phone

With AXA Doctor@Hand, powered by Doctor Care Anywhere, you can see a doctor quickly when you want to, through your smartphone or tablet.

And if your doctor needs to prescribe something for you, they’ll arrange for this to be delivered to your home for no more than the cost of a standard NHS prescription. You’ll need to pay the full prescription and delivery charge and then get reimbursed for costs above the £9.35 NHS charge.  This subsidised prescription offer has now been extended until 30 June 2021. 

How to book an appointment
  1. Create your account at https://member.doctorcareanywhere.com/SignUp/doctorathand or download the Doctor Care Anywhere app.
  2. Enter your PHC membership number. You’ll find this on your membership documents.
  3. Enter the details for everyone on your plan exactly as the information appears on your membership certificate.
  4. Follow the instructions to set up your account with Doctor Care Anywhere. You’ll need some ID (passport or driving licence) plus a smartphone to take a selfie with.
  5. You’re ready to book!

For some conditions you won’t need a GP referral as you’ll have direct access to treatment through our Clinical Support Centre. Give us a call and we’ll let you know if you need a GP referral.

If you think you have symptoms of the coronavirus please use NHS 111 online, rather than the Doctor@Hand service.

The security and confidentiality of your Doctor@Hand consultation is an absolute priority for PHC and Doctor Care Anywhere (DCA). Here’s how we are keeping your private information safe:

  • Your consultation is completely confidential and bound by the levels of patient confidentiality you’d expect with medical appointments
  • The website and app use the latest security technologies to keep your information secure
  • Regular testing of the advanced encryption systems ensures there are no weaknesses in the platform and no unauthorised parties can access confidential data
  • DCA work with the authorities who oversee information governance in the NHS to ensure the platform meets NHS standards
  • Voice and video data is fully encrypted
  • Consultations are recorded and stored securely in an encrypted database - you can easily request copies of video or audio consultations (but they are not provided through the app automatically)

To support your health and wellbeing, we’ve teamed up with Thrive – the app that helps you boost your mental wellbeing and build resilience – to offer you a free subscription until 30 September 2021.

That’s several months of guides, sessions and games to help you with mindfulness, sleep, relaxation and managing stress. You can also use the Thrive app to set wellness goals and track your progress and achievements.
